 CALGARY
— The CBC Calgary music library has found a loving, new home. Which will
soon find it thousands of other loving homes.
A Marda Loop record store, The Inner Sleeve, announced Tuesday that it had
purchased the Mother Corp’s massive local collection of vinyl and compact
discs, which the broadcaster had announced earlier in the year it was going
to eliminate across the country after digitizing the music in all of the
regional collections.
Marilyn Hall, owner of the independent new and used record shop at 117, 3411
20th St. S.W., was thrilled with the acquisition but, not surprisingly, a
little overwhelmed by the process of packing up “roughly 27,000 LPs and
between 35,000 and 37,000 CDs” over the course of an entire week.
